Training At CFD, we realize that the world is evolving and so must the Fire Service. In saying that, our Training Division takes an aggressive stance in order to provide each member with the training necessary to become proficient at their life-saving skills. CFD conducts department level training every Monday, of each week, throughout the year, typically running from 6:30-8:30pm. Members are required to attend a minimum of two department trainings a month, with the goal being to attend each week. Operations personnel receive a minimum of the following department level training a year provided by the Training Division:
  • Officer Development – 52 Hours (Officers)
  • Structure Fires – 36.5 Hours
  • Technical Rescue – 19.5 Hours
  • Wildland Fires – 29 Hours
  • EMS – 20 Hours
  • Driver / Operator – 8 Hours
  • Hazmat – 6 Hours
All department level training is supplemented by shift or company level training, overseen at the discretion of each Shift’s Captain and off-site State or National level certification courses. Some of these courses include:
  • Fire Academy
  • EMT-B
  • Vehicle Extrication Technician
  • Driver / Operator
  • Rope Rescue Technician Level I / II
  • Swift Water Rescue Technician
  • Fire Instructor I, II, III
  • Fire Officer I, II, III IV
